Cable Cutter Sub (CCS)

When used in conjunction with the Elmar™ variable-length lubricator, our cable cutter sub (CCS) provides positive barrier protection during stranded line remedial work, reducing non-productive time and enhancing operational safety. Positioned in the lubricator string above the tool catcher/ball check valve and immediately below the grease injection head, the CCS provides enhanced operational safety with unique hydraulic quick connections and padlocked pump to prevent inadvertent use.

In the event of wire becoming jammed in the grease injection flotubes, to the extent that no upward or downward wireline movement is possible, the wireline can be cleanly cut well above the wireline valve. This functionality allows an easier recovery in stranded armor situations or to cleanly drop the severed end of the wireline into the well when required by safety considerations.

Using the cable cutter sub together with the variable-length lubricator makes it possible to achieve the following in a single lift set-up: open the lubricator string after sealing with the wireline valve and secure the wireline and start recovery procedures without stripping wireline through the BOP seals and potentially losing seal.

Suitable for cutting multi-conductor wireline up to 15/32-in., our CCS is available up to 15,000-psi working pressure and for H2S service. Additionally, the CCS is supplied with a safety shear pinned cutting piston and 2-in. 10TPI female box x 2-in. 10TPI male pin for electric line operations.
