Additionally, the Impact A Hero Cpl Casey Owens Memorial Library has an inventory of veteran-authored, personal growth and leadership books, available for check-out, and we are pleased to have this library annex at Camp Hope. IAH is located in downtown Houston and our programs are offered in surrounding counties.

Thank you to NOV, and the participants of this annual NOV Clay Shoot. Impact A Hero is honored and appreciative to be included as a beneficiary of this successful event. Our special thanks to NOV representatives Chris Ramos and Scott Livingston for their continued support of our mission. The IAH programs provide our veterans, wherever they may be in their life journey, an opportunity to make a positive difference in their lives. As many of you know, the transition from military to civilian life, whether as a veteran caregiver or life in general for both veteran, caregiver, and active service member can be challenging. Impact A Hero provides esprit de corps and a safe community with like-minded individuals. Our workshops provide skills to tame anxiety based on trauma, learn practices to enhance self-esteem, become a better leader with confidence, and enhance overall well-being as a parent, spouse, friend, and professional colleague. In addition, we are pleased to partner with the Travis Manion Foundation and Combined Arms to host Camp Impact, available for teens of veterans. Camp Impact focuses on a “character matters” curriculum.

Thank you for supporting NOV’s event. Through your fun and fellowship, you are helping Impact A Hero, Impact A Life.

K9s For Warriors

The mission of K9s For Warriors is to end Veteran suicide by providing highly trained Service Dogs to military Veterans suffering from PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and/or military sexual trauma. With the majority of dogs being rescues, this innovative program allows the K9/Warrior Team to build an unwavering bond that facilitates their collective healing and recovery.

Roughly 20 Veterans die by suicide every day, and K9s For Warriors is determined to change that. K9s For Warriors exists because of a fierce dedication to saving the lives of both Veterans and rescue dogs. This program is backed by scientific research and empowers Veterans who fought for our freedom to live a life of dignity and independence. Successfully guiding a Veteran through the K9s For Warriors program and providing them with a Service Dog doesn’t just change the Warrior’s life – it saves it. The majority of our K9s are rescued from shelters. In saving these animals from abandonment and euthanasia, we give them a new purpose. Each pair who graduates from our program represent two lives saved – the Warrior and the Service Dogs. Graduates of the program are able to live a life that they previously did not think was possible. Many have reunited with their families, gone back to school, found renewed employment in life, and significantly reduced their medications.

“I had been medically retired from the Marine Corps. I was struggling. I was on 24 pills a day; the pills were killing me. There is a way out besides the pills, besides suicide, there’s light. K9s For Warriors saves two lives. They save shelter dogs, and they save Veteran’s lives.” - Warrior David & K9 Bert, K9s For Warriors Graduates of 2019
