High Performance Aqueous Drilling Fluid System
The GRADIENT™ system is an advanced emulsion-based drilling fluid designed to deliver performance like conventional oil-based fluids. Its unique formulation meets a wide range of operational requirements, allowing the use of either freshwater or monovalent brine as the continuous phase, with the option to incorporate up to 45% oil. This flexibility makes the GRADIENT™ system exceptionally versatile for both onshore and offshore drilling operations in a variety of geological environments.
A key advantage of the GRADIENT™ system is its ability to achieve lower fluid densities - down to approximately 7.2 ppg - making it highly effective in depleted formations where differential sticking can be a challenge. By helping to maintain low equivalent circulating densities (ECD) in formations with narrow fracture gradients, it minimizes fluid losses and promotes wellbore stability. The system also improves lubrication, reducing torque, drag and the risk of clay/gumbo accretion or bit balling in highly reactive shale intervals.
The GRADIENT™ system is designed with a high tolerance for contaminants to provide reliable performance in demanding environments. Its thermal stability extends to 450°F, providing consistency in high temperature conditions. The system is also easy to mix, maintain and recycle, enabling efficient operation throughout the drilling program.
