Spread Mooring System
Moor floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessels to a fixed heading relative to the seabed using multiple mooring lines.
Our Spread Mooring System (SMS) is commonly used in either benign environments such as Africa or Southeast Asia or in deep waters in Africa and Brazil. Many engineering contractors provide SMS arrangements; however, we provide the most complete and optimized spread mooring system.
The most recent reference of an SMS in operation is a very large crude carrier moored in 1200 m of water with exposure to a 100-year wave of 9.1 m Hs and a riser arrangement catered for 53 risers.
We look at the complete arrangement of the following components:
- Naval architecture: hull; local and global analysis, stability calculations, and model testing
- Spread mooring: anchors, mooring legs
- Deck equipment: fairleads, winches
- Riser arrangement and riser balcony
