    Description

“Big Foot” to Remote Control: The Evolution of the Iron Roughneck

In the 1970s, the “Big Foot” iron roughneck led National Oilwell Varco’s (NOV) roughneck revolution and solidified its place in the drilling community as the engineering leader in the development and design of innovative tubular connection equipment.

Our Hydraulic Mud Bucket (HMB) enables collecting and reuse of mud fluid preventing fluid spill on drill floor. The iron roughneck interface enables mud bucket being operated from driller’s cabin and included in trip-out sequences.

Our HMB is used in connection with the iron roughneck and is a supporting piece of tubular connection equipment used during wet tripping or back reaming.  The HMB is fully hydraulic and leads mud from the bucket through a hose by way of the main body to the mud process module.
